If you are after an unforgettable sunset, then the Balearic Islands in <\/span>Spain<\/span><\/a> boast arguably the most magical anywhere in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

This list contains my favourite spots in Mallorca to watch the sun dip below the glistening mediterranean sea.<\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve only chosen sunsets that feature an unobstructed view of the sun going to bed for this article.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some of them are more well-known than others, but all of them are simply stunning to witness. And if you do manage to see the elusive green flash as our most loved star sets, then be sure to leave a comment below.<\/span><\/p>\n

Port Andratx<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Port Andratx is a beautiful sunset spot set within a naturally sheltered bay in the South West of Mallorca. The high surrounding headlands encapsulate the bay. At the right time of the year, you get a dramatic view of sunset dipping below the Mediterranean sea perfectly between the peninsulas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Getting To Port Andratx<\/strong><\/h3>\n

At roughly 30 minutes’ driving time, this is the closest quality sunset in Mallorca to<\/span> Old Town Palma<\/span><\/a>. Follow the Ma-1 along the coast until you arrive in Port Andratx.<\/span><\/p>\n

There is a large cark park just after the roundabout as you enter the town. Park up and here because the system of one-ways and limited parking in the town can make it a hassle later.<\/span><\/p>\n

Food\/drink<\/strong><\/h3>\n

N<\/span>o<\/span>11 cocktail bar<\/span><\/a> on the promenade is a firm favourite among Mallorcan sunset chasers. You have the option of a spacious terrace or 1st-floor balcony to maximise your vantage point. So grab some elegantly presented tapas and a cocktail and let the vibey atmosphere welcome the sunset.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sant Elm<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Getting To Sant Elm<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Sant Elm lies to the South West of Mallorca, nestled in the bottom corner of the island. From Palma de Mallorca, it’s a 40-minute drive where you’ll be treated to a delightful winding road down into the town on your approach.<\/span><\/p>\n

The best place to watch the sunset in Sant Elm is at the far end of town. There is public access all along the seafront from the beach.<\/span><\/p>\n

insider tip:<\/strong> the sun sets at the South end of Dragona island, a little way offshore from the town.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Food\/drink<\/strong><\/h3>\n

After watching the sunset consider<\/span> La Cocotte de Sant Elm<\/span><\/a>; they make some of the best Mediterranean cuisine in Mallorca. Their prices are reasonable because you aren’t paying for the view. Take the discount, and you’ll be delighted when you taste their green pepper tapas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cap de Formentor lighthouse<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Possibly one of the most beautifully located lighthouses in the world. Cap de Formentor lighthouse lies in the North of the island, where on a clear day, you can see Menorca.<\/span><\/p>\n

The lighthouse provides one of the best sunsets in Mallorca, and it’s popular with tourists and locals alike.<\/span><\/p>\n

Getting To Cap de Formentor<\/strong><\/h3>\n

From Old Town Palma, it is roughly an 80km (50mile) drive along the Ma-13, which runs South to North. After that, head straight until you reach<\/span> Port de Pollen\u00e7a<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

From there, take the Ma-2210 and be sure to pull over at Mirador Es Colomer. One of the most spectacular views in all of Mallorca.<\/span><\/p>\n

From the<\/span> Mirador Es Colomer<\/span><\/a> viewpoint, it’s roughly a 15km (9 miles) drive to get to the lighthouse. But the stunning views will likely slow you down, and there are ample spaces to pull over to admire your vantage point.<\/span><\/p>\n

Food\/drink<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Cap de Formentor lighthouse is in a nature reserve, so there are no bars or restaurants. Being surrounded by unobstructed nature makes this sunset spot so special. I recommend stopping in Port de Pollen\u00e7a beforehand to grab some drinks and snacks.<\/span><\/p>\n

The lighthouse has plenty of picnic areas that you can use to make it enjoyable. So you won’t have to worry about balancing your food or yourself on a rock.<\/span><\/p>\n

Massanella<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This sunset in Mallorca is one you need to work for.<\/span> Puig Massanella<\/span><\/a> is the third-highest point on the island; at 1364m above sea level, you get an unobstructed panoramic view from the summit. The hike can be gruelling when done at a steady pace, but the reward is worth the effort.<\/span><\/p>\n

Getting To Massanella<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The easiest route for this particular sunset is to drive to the<\/span> car park at Embassament de C\u00faber<\/span><\/a>. From here, the route up to the summit is signposted along the road, and then once the trail begins, you should follow the blue arrows. Here is a<\/span> comprehensive guide<\/span><\/a> to all the available routes to take to the peak.<\/span><\/p>\n

Along the 40-minute walk\/route, you might see wild mountain goats and even a Bonelli’s eagle or two. Be sure to carry water with you as there are no services here.<\/span><\/p>\n

Food\/drink<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This sunset in the Serra de Tramuntana mountains is a DIY job. Packing a picnic is your best bet on this occasion.<\/span><\/p>\n

insider tip:<\/i><\/strong>\u00a0If you are going to carry your treats up the mountain, definitely use the route starting from the Embassament de C\u00faber I mentioned earlier.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Final Thoughts<\/strong><\/h2>\n
