Ever since I started dreaming about visiting every destination in Europe, Iceland<\/strong> has been on the top of my travel bucket list. Seeing various pictures from the Land of ice and reading multiple\u00a0stories on the web about the country all the time only enhanced my desire to visit Iceland. And I am sure that soon enough I will have the chance to go there.<\/span><\/p>\n

Until then I dream about it and plan my Iceland holiday by creating an inspirational list of all the places to see and adventures to experience there. But enough said. Here are the 10 reasons I want to visit Iceland and so should you:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

10. Go Glacier Hiking<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Hiking is one of my favourite activities to do when I want to truly experience a country. Hiking\u00a0connects you better with the nature and the \u201csoul\u201d of the country. And Glacier hiking in Iceland would definitely be one in a lifetime experience. Hiking on the South coast of Iceland you can even see some of the country\u2019s most spectacular volcanoes and waterfalls.<\/span><\/p>\n

9. Be inside of a volcano<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking of volcanoes the next reason I want to visit Iceland so bad is that you can actually go inside a volcano! Of course, it is a dormant one, but still the experience would be unbelievable. I actually can\u2019t pronounce the volcano’s name but\u00a0whatever it is, it should be done!<\/span><\/p>\n

8. Snorkeling in the Silfra fissure<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I hate water. That\u2019s why until now I avoided water activities. But nothing in the world would stop me from having the best snorkeling experience in Silfra fissure<\/a> \u2013 Iceland\u2019s amazingly beautiful underwater phenomenon. Its world fame proves how amazing it would be to dive into the ice waters of Silfra fissure…<\/span><\/p>\n

7. Snowmobiling on a glacier<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Apparently there is such thing as snowmobiling on a glacier in Iceland and I can\u2019t be more excited about it. Imagine seeing scenic sites and beautiful landscapes while riding a snowmobile. Sounds like fun, right?<\/span><\/p>\n

6. See the Asbyrgi Canyon<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Another truly fantastic hike I would take in Iceland is to the Asbyrgi Canyon in the northeast part of the country. Seeing it only in\u00a0pictures gives me goos\u0435 bumps and I can imagine how awesome it would be to see it in real life. There are also some pretty exciting legends about the formation of Asbyrgi Canyon I really want to hear from the locals.<\/span><\/p>\n

5. See the Skaftafell Park’s surreal landscapes<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Skaftafell is an area in southeast Iceland where you can find Iceland\u2019s most spectacular landscapes of waterfalls, glacial rivers, wood forests, hiking trails\u2026 It is also a home of the amazing Skaftfell ice cave<\/a>. I just want to make sure everything they say about Skaftafell is true,\u00a0is that too much to ask?<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Go waterfall hunting <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Iceland is also a home to many breathtaking waterfalls such as Sk\u00f3gafoss, Go\u00f0afoss or Hj\u00e1lparfoss. I\u2019ve only seen them in pictures<\/a> but that\u2019s enough to make them one of the reasons I want to visit Iceland as soon as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Dip in the Blue Lagoon<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Visiting Blue Lagoon<\/a> in Iceland is actually one of my travel bucket list goals. It just looks almost unreal to me so I would be more than happy to dip in the Blue Lagoon\u2019s waters and experience it firsthand.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Visit Reykyavik<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Reykyavik, Iceland\u2019s capital, is another fairytale place in the country I would not miss. Walking around the Old Harbor, have a picnic at Tj\u00f6rnin pond, seeing the famous Hallgr\u00edmskirkja church or just roaming around the city \u2013 it all sounds good to me.<\/span><\/p>\n

1. See the Northern Lights<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Seeing the Northern Lights is actually number 1 on my travel bucket list<\/a> since… forever. And Iceland offers some pretty good conditions\u00a0to spot the Aurora Borealis. It is unbelievable to me how this natural phenomenon occurs and light up the whole sky. I just want to be there and see it myself.<\/span><\/p>\n

And I am keen on learning more about the northern lights to maximize my chances of seeing them when I visit Iceland. I think being in the right place at the right time is the goal of an aurora hunter.
